Cabinet Project vs Cabinet Vision: building cabinets or selling them
Cabinet Vision and Cabinet Project both appear when someone searches for cabinet software. They are for different businesses. Cabinet Vision, made by Hexagon, takes a cabinet or closet shop from the design to the machine: construction methods, part sheets, optimization and CNC. Cabinet Project is for dealers and installer crews who sell and install boxes a manufacturer already makes. This page puts what each one costs side by side.
What it costs
Hexagon's own Cabinet Vision page has no price: it asks you to contact sales. The one price list we found is from Planit Canada, a Cabinet Vision reseller, in Canadian dollars. Anything past these two packages, including the add-on modules Cabinet Vision calls multipliers (xMachining, xOptimizer, xBidding and others), is a custom quote.
| Product and plan | Price | What the page says it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Cabinet Vision Design | Cabinets | $249 CAD/month, billed monthly, 12-month minimum | Order entry, floor plan, elevations, 3D and assembly views, job costing, full rendering, basic 2D CAD, updates |
| Cabinet Vision Core Cabinets | $332 CAD/month, billed monthly, 12-month minimum | Cabinet construction methods, custom catalog assemblies, part sheets, user standards, basic job costing, updates |
| Cabinet Vision custom configuration | Quote by request | Core Cabinets or Closets with the multipliers your shop needs, machining among them |
| Cabinet Project Solo | $59/mo or $590 a year | Quote, order, delivery check and install for one user |
| Cabinet Project Team | $99/mo or $990 a year | The same for three users |
| Cabinet Project Shop | $149/mo or $1,490 a year | The same for five users |
Planit Canada says maintenance, new versions and eSupport are in the monthly price, with no up-front payment. Cabinet Project plans are per company, monthly or annual, with a 14-day trial and no card.
Where Cabinet Vision is the better tool
- You build the boxes. Construction methods, part sheets, sheet optimization and machine code are what Cabinet Vision is for. Cabinet Project does not write G-code or define how a box is built. It exports a cut list of the drawn boxes (.csv), a cutting plan that lays those panels on full sheets for a table saw (.pdf) and a label for every part on Avery 5160 sheets, and it prices sheets, edge banding and hardware at your own costs and turns them into quote lines with your markup. That is enough for a few boxes, not for running a shop floor.
- Any wall, any box. Angled, curved, cathedral and vaulted walls, and boxes of any size. Cabinet Project works from the SKUs a manufacturer publishes.
- Closets are a full Cabinet Vision product line. Cabinet Project quotes the cabinets in a manufacturer's catalog.
Where Cabinet Project is the better tool
- You sell a manufacturer's line. RTA and semi-custom lines come as price lists by SKU. Cabinet Project imports the list, applies your multiplier and quotes by SKU. Your cost is list times multiplier, not sheet goods and machine time.
- After the sale. Customer approval and deposit in a portal, the order to the manufacturer, the delivery check with photo claims, the install schedule, the punch list and QuickBooks Online.
- A price on the page. Monthly plans have no 12-month minimum, and you can start today without a sales call.
- The phone at the jobsite, in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The drawing, the quote and the delivery check are the same job.
Which one are you looking for?
If your shop builds cabinets or closets to order and cuts the parts, look at Cabinet Vision, or at Mozaik and KCD Software, which publish their prices. If you buy boxes from a manufacturer and install them, look at dealer software. The four kinds of cabinet software are laid out in cabinet estimating software: which kind fits a dealer or installer, and the dealer side in Cabinet Project for RTA cabinet dealers.
