Cabinet software for dealers and installers in Canada

Published by Design Master Solutions LLC

A Canadian cabinet dealer buys the same boxes as a dealer in Ohio: B24, SB36, W3030, sized in inches, sold from a manufacturer's list price at a multiplier. What changes is the money around them: Canadian dollars on the quote, GST or HST on every line, a tax number on the invoice. Cabinet Project sets those up from your company address, so the first quote already reads right.

GST, HST and the provincial rate

Sales tax in Canada depends on the province. Cabinet Project starts every Canadian company on the federal GST at 5%, because that part is the same everywhere. If you are in Ontario, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia or Prince Edward Island, HST replaces it with a higher combined rate; in British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Quebec, PST or QST comes on top. You enter your province's total rate once in Settings and every quote and invoice uses it. Rates can differ by kind of line, materials, labor, installation and delivery, for the provinces that tax installation labor differently from the boxes. Your GST/HST number goes on the documents next to your company details.

Same boxes, same arithmetic

The quote is built the way a dealer prices anywhere in North America: the manufacturer's list price times your multiplier, with your markup or MSRP on top, plus labor by linear foot or by box. The math is in how to quote a 10x10 kitchen with list price × multiplier. If a line's list is published in US dollars and you sell in Canadian dollars, fold the exchange into the multiplier for that line, so the quote comes out in CAD without retyping the list. You load each manufacturer's list from the PDF, a photo of the page or a CSV; see price list import.

Plans in Canadian dollars

Plans are per company, not per seat. In Canada, Solo for one person is C$85 a month, Team for three is C$139, Shop for five is C$209 and Crew for ten is C$349; an extra seat above Team is C$21. Paying for a year costs ten months. Prices are before tax, every paid plan has the whole workflow, and the 14-day trial needs no card. The plan comparison for every country is on the price list by country.

What you will not find yet

The rest of the job, from the first visit to the punch list, works the same as in the US; the pages for RTA and semi-custom dealers and cabinet installers walk through it.

Questions

Do I pay in Canadian or US dollars?

In Canadian dollars. A company whose address is in Canada sees and buys the Canadian price list in CAD; the US list is only for companies in the US and in countries without a regional list. Prices are before tax.

Does it handle HST, PST and QST?

The tax line starts as the federal GST at 5%. If your province charges HST or PST/QST, set the total rate of your province once in Settings and every quote and invoice uses it. You can keep separate rates for materials, labor, installation and delivery.

Is the app in French?

Not yet. The app runs in English, Spanish and Portuguese today. French is on the roadmap but has no date, so a Quebec business that needs French on screen should wait for it.

Are cabinets in inches or centimetres?

Inches, like the boxes you buy. Canada is set to imperial in Cabinet Project because the SKUs dealers sell, B24, SB36, W3030, are the same inch-based codes as in the US.
