Software for cabinet installers: price the labor, run the day, close the job
An install crew gets paid for boxes on the wall, and loses money on everything around them: a quote that undercounted the boxes, a damaged door found after the base is set, a trip back for one missing filler, an invoice sent a week late. Cabinet Project puts those steps on the phone the crew already carries.
Pricing your labor
Most installers charge by the linear foot, by the box, or a mix. In Cabinet Project you keep your own rates, each per linear foot or each: base per lf, wall per lf, tall each, per box, crown, filler, demo, haul and custom. On the quote, labor is its own line next to the boxes, quantity × rate, and it is not taxed by default because many states do not tax installation stated separately (turn tax on per rate where yours does).
- Not sure which method underpays you? Read pricing install labor by linear foot or by box, which prices the same wall both ways.
- Counting the feet: the linear foot calculator adds box widths by run.
- Running the numbers: the install labor calculator totals lf, box and extras.
Before you hang anything: the delivery check
Count every box at the truck. For each SKU, mark it OK, missing, damaged or wrong, with a photo and a note, and get the receiver's signature. Every problem becomes a claim e-mail to the distributor with the PO, SKU and photo links, sent when you press send. A damaged box caught here is the manufacturer's problem; the same box found after install is yours. More in order tracking and the delivery check.
The install day
| When | In the app |
|---|---|
| Morning | The day's route on a map, stops in order; the job's drawing with SKUs, hinge sides and finished ends per wall |
| On site | Photos on the job; measure a wall with the iPhone camera when something does not match |
| Done | Customer signs the install sign-off on the phone; a PDF stays on the job |
| Leftovers | Punch list items with a photo, assigned to someone, closed with a photo of the fix |
| Billing | Final invoice, card payment in the customer portal, QuickBooks Online sync |
Details on routes, calendars and the punch list are on the install scheduling page.
Reading the boxes
New helpers learn the codes on the job. B24 is a 24″ base, SB36 a 36″ sink base, W3030 a wall cabinet 30″ wide and 30″ high, BBC42 a 42″ blind corner base. The cabinet SKU codes guide lists the prefixes, and standard kitchen cabinet sizes has the heights, depths and widths in one table.
In your language
The app runs in English, Spanish and Portuguese, on phone, tablet and desktop. Each person picks their language. Many crews in the US work in Spanish or Portuguese while the customer and the distributor get English; Cabinet Project handles both sides.
Plans for a crew
Solo is one user at $59 a month; Team is three; Crew is ten users at $249 a month. Plans are per company, monthly or annual, and every paid plan has a 14-day trial without a card. If you already run your jobs in a general app, see Jobber or Housecall Pro next to Cabinet Project.
Questions
Can my crew use the app in Spanish or Portuguese?
Yes. The app runs in English, Spanish and Portuguese, and each user picks their own language. Documents for the US customer, like claim e-mails and quote areas, stay in English.
I only install, I do not sell cabinets. Is it still useful?
Yes. Price your labor per linear foot or per box, check the boxes at delivery so damage is on the distributor and not on you, run the install day, collect the sign-off and send the invoice. The catalog and multiplier parts are there when you start selling boxes too.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan is one user and three quick quotes a month by linear foot, with a Cabinet Project branded PDF. Paid plans have the whole workflow and a 14-day trial without a card.
