Cabinet software for kitchen dealers and fitters in the UK
A UK kitchen dealer quotes the same way as one in the US: a manufacturer's trade list, a discount or multiplier, a margin on top, then fitting. What changes is everything around the numbers: pounds on the quote, VAT at 20%, a VAT number on the invoice, units in metric. Cabinet Project sets those up from your company address, so the first quote already reads right.
What is set for the UK
| Item | In Cabinet Project |
|---|---|
| Currency | Quotes, orders, invoices and the client portal in pounds |
| Tax | A tax line named VAT at the standard 20%, added on top of the price |
| Tax number | Your VAT number printed on quotes and invoices |
| Units | Metric, in centimetres; inches if you switch |
| Calendar | UK bank holidays on the schedule |
| Plans | The UK list, in GBP, before VAT |
| App | In American English, Spanish and Portuguese |
VAT on top of the trade list
Manufacturers publish trade prices before VAT, so Cabinet Project starts every UK company with VAT at 20% added on top: the quote shows the price, the VAT line and the total your client pays. The rate is yours to change, and it can differ by kind of line, materials, labour, installation and delivery, if part of the job is taxed differently. Your VAT number goes on the documents next to your company details, and a trade client's VAT number goes on the invoices you send them.
Units in centimetres, the same arithmetic
A UK company works in metric: the kitchen layout, the walls and the unit widths read in centimetres, so a 600 mm base unit is 60 cm and a 3 m run is 300 cm. If you buy American stock sized in inches, switch the company to inches once in Settings. The quote is built the same way everywhere: the manufacturer's list price times your multiplier or discount, with your margin on top, plus fitting by linear metre or by unit. The math is in how to quote a kitchen with list price × multiplier. You load each manufacturer's list from the PDF, a photo of the page or a CSV; see price list import.
Plans in pounds
Plans are per company, not per seat. In the UK, Solo for one person is £45 a month, Team for three is £75, Shop for five is £115 and Crew for ten is £189; an extra seat above Team is £11. Paying for a year costs ten months. Prices are before VAT, every paid plan has the whole workflow, and the 14-day trial needs no card. The plan comparison for every country is on the price list by country.
What you will not find yet
- No UK manufacturer catalogues preloaded. The shared catalogue holds US lines; you load your suppliers' trade lists yourself from the PDF or CSV.
- No British spelling. The screens read color and center; what you type is yours.
- No Making Tax Digital filing. Invoices carry VAT, but the return goes through your accounting software.
- No direct manufacturer ordering, in the UK or anywhere: the PO goes out as a PDF or CSV.
The rest of the job, from the first visit to the snagging list, works the same as in the US; the pages for kitchen showrooms and cabinet installers walk through it.
Questions
Do I pay in pounds or US dollars?
In pounds. A company whose address is in the United Kingdom sees and buys the UK price list in GBP; the US list is only for companies in the US and in countries without a regional list. Prices are before VAT.
Is VAT added on top of my prices?
Yes. A UK company starts with a tax line named VAT at the standard 20%, added on top of the price, because manufacturers' trade lists are before VAT. You can change the rate, and keep separate rates for materials, labour, installation and delivery.
Does it measure in millimetres?
It measures in centimetres for a UK company: a 600 mm base unit reads 60 cm in the kitchen layout and on the quote. You can switch the company to inches in Settings if you buy American stock.
Is the app in British English?
No. The screens are in American English, so you will read color and center. Your own item names, notes and documents are whatever you type.
