Cabinet SKU codes explained: what B24, SB36, W3030 and LS36 mean

Published by Design Master Solutions LLC

US cabinet lines name their boxes with a short code: letters for the kind of box, digits for its size. Once you can read B24, SB36 or W3030, any manufacturer's price list reads like a spreadsheet. This is the system as most RTA and semi-custom lines use it, and as Cabinet Project reads it when you import a price list.

The prefix tells you the kind of box

Read the whole prefix: SB36 is a sink base and BBC42 a blind corner, even though both start with B and both are base cabinets. A code that matches none of these is usually an accessory (hardware, rollouts, touch-up kits).

The digits tell you the size

Suffixes vary by manufacturer

After the size, lines add letters for options: hinge side (L or R), butt doors (B), a deeper box (for example a 24-inch-deep wall over the refrigerator), glass-ready doors, full-height doors, or the door style code. Two lines can use the same suffix for different things. Before you order, read the line's spec book, the manufacturer's catalog section that lists every SKU with its drawing and dimensions, and quote the SKU exactly as it is written there.

How Cabinet Project reads SKUs

When you import a manufacturer's price list from a CSV or a PDF, Cabinet Project needs only the SKU and the list price. If the file has no kind or width column, it reads the kind from the prefix (the table above) and the width from the digits: B24 is a 24-inch base, W3030 a 30-inch wall, U1884 an 18-inch tall. Every row lands on a review screen first, where you fix a wrong kind, a missing price or a repeated SKU before anything is saved. A new company also starts with a starter catalog of 66 standard boxes by nominal size, from B09 to U2496, so you can draw a kitchen before loading prices.

Questions

What does W3030 mean on a cabinet?

A wall cabinet 30 inches wide and 30 inches tall. Wall SKUs give the width first and the height second, so W3630 is 36 wide by 30 tall and W3015 is a 30-wide, 15-tall box that usually goes over a refrigerator.

What is the difference between B24 and SB24?

B24 is a standard base cabinet 24 inches wide, usually with a drawer over a door. SB is a sink base: same width system, but with false drawer fronts and an open back for the plumbing, so it is the box that goes under the sink.

Are cabinet SKU codes the same for every manufacturer?

The core prefixes (B, SB, DB, W, U or T, LS, BBC, F) are shared by most US RTA and semi-custom lines. Suffixes for hinge side, door count, depth or butt doors vary. Read the line's spec book before ordering.
