Kitchen cabinet sizes: a standard dimensions chart
American kitchen cabinets come in a small set of standard sizes. Once you know the pattern, you can read a whole box list at a glance: base cabinets 34½ inches tall and 24 deep, wall cabinets 12 deep in three heights, tall cabinets 24 deep in three heights, and widths that step by 3 inches. This chart puts all of them on one page, with the SKU each size goes by.
These are nominal sizes; always check the manufacturer's spec book. Lines differ by fractions of an inch, and some sell sizes outside this chart.

How the SKU tells you the size
The letters say what the box is and the digits say how big it is. One pair of digits is the width: B24 is a base cabinet 24 inches wide. Two pairs are width then height: W3030 is a wall cabinet 30 wide and 30 tall, U1896 a tall cabinet 18 wide and 96 tall. Depth is usually not in the code, because it follows the type: 24 for base and tall, 12 for wall. The cabinet SKU codes guide lists the prefixes, and the SKU decoder reads one for you.
Base cabinets
The box is 34½ inches tall. With a 1½-inch countertop on top, the work surface lands at 36 inches, the standard counter height. Depth is 24 inches. Widths go from 9 to 36 in 3-inch steps, so a run is built from B09, B12, B15 and so on up to B36. Sink bases and drawer bases share the height and depth. More detail, including the toe kick, is in base cabinet dimensions and sink base cabinet sizes.
Wall cabinets
Wall cabinets are 12 inches deep and come in three common heights: 30, 36 and 42. Hung with the bottom at 54 inches from the floor (an 18-inch gap above a 36-inch counter), a 30-inch wall cabinet tops out at 84 inches, a 36 at 90 and a 42 at 96, which is an 8-foot ceiling. Short wall cabinets, 15 or 24 tall, go over the refrigerator. See wall cabinet dimensions.
Tall cabinets: pantry and oven
Tall cabinets stand on the floor at base depth, 24 inches, and run 84, 90 or 96 inches tall. Pantries are usually 18 or 24 wide; an oven cabinet is 30 wide to take a standard wall oven. Pick the height from the ceiling and the wall cabinets next to it: an 84-inch pantry lines up with the top of 30-inch wall cabinets hung at 54 inches, a 96 with 42-inch ones.
Corners, fillers and panels
A corner is where most layouts go wrong, because a box on one wall takes space on the other. Lazy susans (LS33, LS36) and blind corner bases (BBC36, BBC42) are the usual base answers; a diagonal corner wall cabinet (DCW2430) is the usual upper. Corner cabinet sizes explains how much of each wall they use. Fillers (F3, F6) close the gap between the last box and the wall, and ¾-inch end panels finish an exposed side: base (BEP24), wall (WEP1230) and the tall panel beside a refrigerator (REP2496). See cabinet filler strips.
How Cabinet Project uses this chart
Every new company in Cabinet Project starts with a "Starter sizes" line: 66 standard boxes from this chart, B09 to U2496, with their width, height and depth. You can draw a kitchen on day one with it. Its list prices are 0 on purpose, never invented: a quote on the starter line comes out at zero until you import your manufacturer's price list, from the PDF or spreadsheet the distributor sends.
In the layout editor, base boxes sit at 34½ inches and wall boxes hang at 54 inches unless the catalog says otherwise, corners reserve their space on the next wall, and a gap smaller than the smallest box becomes a filler automatically. The box list then turns into linear feet and a quote; the linear foot calculator shows the same count for a single wall.
Questions
What are the standard kitchen cabinet sizes?
Base cabinets are 34.5 inches tall and 24 inches deep, in widths from 9 to 36 inches in 3-inch steps. Wall cabinets are 12 inches deep and 30, 36 or 42 inches tall, in the same widths. Tall pantry and oven cabinets are 24 inches deep and 84, 90 or 96 inches tall. These are nominal sizes; each manufacturer's spec book has the exact ones.
How deep are kitchen cabinets?
Base and tall cabinets are 24 inches deep as a box. Wall cabinets are 12 inches deep. The door adds a little in front, and the countertop usually overhangs the base doors by about an inch.
What size is a standard pantry cabinet?
A tall pantry is usually 18 or 24 inches wide, 24 inches deep and 84 or 96 inches tall. In SKU terms that is U1884, U2484, U1896 or U2496: width first, then height.
